Danny Smith

Danny Smith brings 26 years of law enforcement experience and holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He began his career with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, where he briefly worked in detention. Danny would then serve the next 24 years at the Mission Police Department which is located within the Kansas City, Kansas, metropolitan area. At Mission P.D., he worked as a patrol officer, law enforcement instructor, shift supervisor, crime scene processor, and investigator. In September 2024, Danny retired and joined The Lone Guardian.

During his tenure in the investigation unit with the Mission Police Department, Danny actively participated in a county-wide Financial Abuse Special Team, focusing on cases of abuse against dependent adults, and was part of a multidisciplinary child abuse team collaborating with healthcare providers, social workers, and prosecutors. He received specialized training in forensic child interviews and has dealt with exploitation cases, including international human trafficking investigations.

As a detective with the Mission Police Department, Danny served in the Kansas City Metropolitan Metro Squad Major Case unit, contributing to numerous homicide investigations across various jurisdictions. He is a certified Computer Voice Stress examiner and conducts background investigations. Danny likes to stay busy, so he remains active as a part-time deputy sheriff in his free time, providing support in background investigations.

Additionally, Danny is a licensed Part 107 commercial drone pilot. He continues to develop skills related to search and rescue and other types of drone operations.
